I started taking photos of the garden on 3/15/13 and here has what the garden has done in a month.
The Hyacinths started out slowly, but then wow. I love their fragrance which is why they are close to the front door. I think I got a slide show working, its only taken 3 days to figure out. Oy.
The first slide is dated 3/15, then 4/7, 4/10, 4/14, 4/17. Now I have to figure out how to do captions on each slide.
Path
4/7 just daffodils and some of the tiny early spring bulbs starting
4/10 The tiny bulbs have bloomed, the pink tips of the Solomon Seal is hidden by them. The Daphne on the right is just starting to leaf out
4/14 The tiny blooms are fading but the Solomon Seal is starting to be visible. More leaves on the Daphne
4/17 The Solomon seal is now visible on both sides of the path (behind the Daphne. A very small hydrangea in front of the mushrooms appears to have made it through the winter
Side Yard from Front & Back
4/10 It was in the 70’s yesterday and the cherry tree bloomed today
4/14
4/10 the rose bush is just starting to leaf out, nothing on the red twig dogwood or lilac
4/14. the rose bushes have leafed out, nothing on the red twig dogwood in the middle yet. The lilac has buds
I was able to label everything. Can you find the other rose bush and 2 other red twig dogwoods?
Herb Garden
Herb Garden Before clean up
4/ 14 After clean up. I hope some of the plants (thyme, lavender) I seriously trimmed back make it. There are also strawberries at the other end, rosemary, sage, chives, lemon balm. Lemon thyme, saffron, savory and oregano are next to the steps. The tarragon didn’t make it, I’ll have to replant.
I will post pictures from other parts of the garden when there is something interesting there. I had planted garlic in the fall and the scapes are up. The snap peas are peeking through, but don’t see any beet tops yet.
